In commemoration of the September 11 attacks, Al Jazeera has taken up a scoop by broadcasting an exclusive interview with two Tanzim Al-Qaeda terrorist leaders who had a focal role in planning of Washington in New York attacks. The first announcement of the two men – wanted by the FBI against a 25 million-dollar reward for each – was a direct confession of Al-Qaeda’s involvement. This was during two special episodes-titled “The Road to 11 September” a top-secret program that uncovers the background of the Tanzim, (the organization) and tracks its steps since the early nineties. As the first episode ends, Yussry Fouda -presenter and editor of the program -unvells the identity of the two individuals. The program was shot in different locations such as Hamburg, London, Paris, Tragutta, Cairo, Kfar Cheikh, Beirut, Marj Bekaa, Dubai, Doha, Islam Abad, Kabul, Kandaher, Washington, and New York, and held therefore special interviews with parents of the attackers, representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of America, the CIA, and the Muslim community in Europe, as well as writers and other interested persons. Throughout the program a question is raised: “Was AL-Qaeda nothing but the cutting edge of a sword that some bigger force somewhere was manipulating?”
Demorou.
